Berkeley / Sunnyside
A cultural hood at the edge of West Highlands, Berkeley and Sunnyside have been the “next” neighborhoods for at least a decade. But, the truth is, they’ve already arrived. With First Friday Art Walks and seasonal farmers’ markets, these sister neighborhoods are full of hidden gems.
Axios Estatorio — Greek — Charming, authentic Greek food. Cooked-to-order gyros.
Bacon Social House — New American — Bacon, bacon, more bacon. Who doesn’t love bacon? Don’t miss the Bloody Marys.
Block & Larder — New American — Pressure-fried chicken with pickles and chile-spiked pecan syrup? Yes, ma’am.
Brazen — New American — A bit tricky to find, but worth the hunt. The tagliatelle is perfect for a summer evening.
Cozy Cottage — Breakfast & Brunch — The name says it all! The patio is a great option in the spring and summer.
El Chingon — Mexican — A cozy neighborhood Mexican joint. We're fans of the duck tacos.
El Jefe — Mexican — Farm-to-table Mexican with a coastal twist.
Il Porcellino — Traditional Deli — Vegetarians beware. The bison sandwich is truly one-of-a-kind.
Parisi — Italian — It sounds contradictory, but go with it — get the pizza salad. You won’t regret it.
Pressed Juice Daily — Juice Bar — Get your juice fix at this prolific local joint. Juice cleanses, too!
Royal — Burgers — Get the Ferdinand’s Conquistador − Beef, chorizo, manchego and romesco sauce.
Sunny's — Breakfast & Brunch — Cozy breakfast spot in the north Highlands, known for their creative take on the classics.
The Monkey Barrel — Bar & Sandwiches — Remember those red monkeys in the barrel? They do too. Neighborhood bar with Italian subs.
The Universal — Breakfast & Brunch — The vegan tempeh scramble is one of the best dishes in town for breakfast.
The Way Back — New American — A neighborhood favorite, recently reopened at a new location on Tennyson.
Tocabe — American Indian — The only place for true Native American food in Denver. Their fry bread and bison ribs are amazing.
West End Tap House — Traditional American — We recommend the tuna tartare and the Belgian fries. Perfect with a cold beer!
Allegro Coffee — Coffee — Big, open, modern space with a huge selection of coffee and tea.
Berkeley Untapped — Bar — A great place to hang with friends, and $0.25 of every drink goes to charity!
BookBar — Wine & Books — It’s a bookshop, but also a wine bar... Is there anything better?
Common Grounds — Coffee — Everything you want in a local coffee shop. It even has a piano!
Local 46 — Beer Garden — Bocce, beers, and ping pong. A fun summer afternoon spot.
