New in Town: Backyard on Blake

River North (RiNo) is undoubtedly one of the hottest neighborhoods in Denver right now. With a constant influx of new shops and restaurants, it’s no surprise that the area is quickly becoming a go-to for great food, great beer, and fun, multi-purpose spaces like Denver Central Market and The Source.

Enter Backyard on Blake, the newest addition to the neighborhood. At 3040 Blake Street, Backyard on Blake provides plenty of opportunities to work, eat, shop, and play, all in a relaxed space designed around the feeling of community. We stopped by their grand opening celebration earlier this month to see what it’s all about. Here are some of our favorites.

Work @ The Workroom

Following the ever-popular shared workspace trend (think WeWork, Galvanize, Shift, and ModWorks), The Workroom offers “a space to think, work, innovate, and create.” Members pay a monthly membership fee to gain access to private offices, a permanent desk, or a floating desk. The space also features a lounge, café bar, high speed internet, printer/copier/scanner access, and a rentable conference room.

Eat @ The Preservery

Since its opening last fall, The Preservery has garnered strong support from the community. As a combined restaurant, bakery, marketplace, and bar, their menu focuses on seasonal foods, meaning there’s always something new and fun to try. Stop by for their much-loved sandwiches, shared plates, or unique wagyu beef hot dog and enjoy some great live music while you’re at it. They recently started offering brunch and delivery, so you can now enjoy their delicious food in more ways than ever before.

Caffeinate @ Blue Sparrow Coffee

With gorgeous tile work, standout blue booths, and great natural light, this charming coffee shop is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy your morning cup of joe.

Create @ River North Workshop Co.

The beauty of the River North Workshop is that it not only offers gorgeous, unique home goods, but it also gives you an opportunity to try your hand at making your own. Each month, they host a number of DIY workshops where you can make everything from mini terrariums to homemade soap to garden signs. Have furniture that needs updating? They can help with that too. Their “milk paint” workshops allow you to bring your own furniture and, with guidance from their team of skilled artisans, give it a fresh new look.

Shop @ a fabulous myriad of boutique shops

Whether you’re looking for unique furniture, vintage clothing, or home goods, Backyard on Blake has it all. One of our favorites is Spinster Sisters Co., a great little shop that sells soaps, body butters, bath salts, and more, all made right here in Colorado. The store is rounded out with a collection of goods from local artisans that make great gifts.

Visit the Backyard on Blake website for a full list of vendors and stop by to check it out for yourself.
