Architecture + Design Film Series: Denver

Adding to our post down below about the film "Modern Tide," the Architecture + Design Film Series is currently at the Denver FilmCenter. It's hosted and created by Design OnScreen, a local non-profit dedicated to producing and sharing films about architecture + design; and we want to see everything.

Coming up on the line-up: "The Pruitt-Igoe Myth," about the failed St. Louis public housing project that is often blamed for the "death of modernism" & "Detropia," about the rise, fall and subsequent slow rebirth of Detroit. So many great films, so little time. See the line-up and buy tickets here, and if you're a Denver Film Society member, there are awesome VIP packages for sale as well.

Modern Tide: Midcentury Architecture on Long Island

Playing Sept. 6th at the Denver FilmCenter, Modern Tide tells the history of modern architecture on Long Island, NY. Now, it's not about Denver, but it's still important; part of the message of this film is that mid-century architecture needs to be preserved and protected just as much as pre-war or older buildings and spaces.  Denver has a lot of mid-century gems - let's not lose them!

Tickets $25, available here.

Studio Como

This boutique... well, it isn't really a boutique. A lifestyle center, maybe? Whatever it is, Studio Como is the most stylish spot in town. Featuring the pinnacle of European brands like Varenna, B&B Italia, and Poliform, they make kitting out your home just got a little more chic. Go in and wander. Position yourself in front of a demo Varenna kitchen and imagine searing a filet while drinking a glass of Pinot... Sit in a stunning Paola Lenti sofa and visualize it filled with friends and family on a raucous night in. This is the stuff dreams are made of. Well, our dreams, anyway.

(Psst! We didn't want to give away our little secret, but Studio Como is having a display sale soon! Email Leah to get the details.)
